Depending upon how old you are, you may remember suffering with acne in high school. Almost everyone goes through it to some degree as an adolescent, but adults are not immune. Originally used by only dermatologists to treat this acne, Blue light therapy was something many young people went through. Having a sensitizer placed on their skin, waiting for a half hour and then being exposed to the light for a little while, was a common occurrence in those days.

Back then, UV lights were used a lot for treating acne. We know now how completely horrible that is for skin, so we do not use that method anymore. The treatments used today do not produce ultraviolet rays, therefore they are quite harmless. This new therapy is a boon to all those adolescents and adults who continue through the years to suffer with this problem. There is now a safer way to get rid of the zits.

The light used in this therapy does not create UV rays but does have a like effect on the skin as sunlight. It does not damage the skin but rather directs its healing energies to the sebaceous glands under the skin, where the troublesome bacteria that cause pimples lives. It kills pimples in this way and is not harmful. The light has also been seen to be effective in treating depression in some folks. This is a double whammy, so to speak, fixing your face and feelings all at once.

Not only can acne be diminished, but fine lines and wrinkles can also start to go away as well. This form of skin therapy was also approved by the FDA several years ago, and is gaining in popularity because of the many advantages it has on the skin. Positive results are often seen in as little as a few weeks. I’d say that’s pretty encouraging news for those of you who have been suffering with skin problems.

In the past this light therapy has been allowed use only by the professionals. These days, because it’s deemed safe, it can be handled by the public, making it easy and less stressful to do the same job as the dermatologist used to do for you, but be careful to read and follow directions that come with the unit so there are no injuries.

If you have sensitive skin, have no fear. This treatment will not remove the top layer of skin, like other more invasive procedures do. It’s pretty painless, but you might experience some redness or slight burning sensations during and after treatment.

There are still, as in the past, a vast variety of products for the skin that are meant as treatments and cures for breakouts of acne and the appearance of wrinkles. You have today, the skin that you have created in the past. If that was not an acceptable creation, then Blue light therapy may be just the thing to make it not only acceptable again, but also more beautiful than you might ever have thought possible.

If you have acne, then you may be trying to find some great acne treatment. There is a such thing as blue light therapy, which will help get rid of that acne in a fast manner.
